Kinja'd!!!

Being a frac engineer might sound cool, but that’s about all I did for 12 hours.

Uhmmm, doing a job like that and only one monitor?! It doesn’t look that you don’t have the real estate for second screen.

I think at this point there are literally no businesses that don’t need at least 2 monitors to work adequately.

Nobody should ever have to look at Excel for that long. Anything I (or we) can help with?

If you keep it up, you’ll either be able to see the Matrix or go batsuit crazy

So nothing you can streamline, automate, formulize, etc?

Excel desprately needs a dark theme. Much better on the eyes and the laptop batteries.

Unfortunately not. I could vlookup the matches off of a file that we already have, but the issue is that we aren’t 100% sure of the accuracy. So I have to go line-by-line, part number by part number, and cross check between two catalogs, double check measurements, and sometime result to web research to confirm whether or not the interchange we have is correct or if we’re missing one in the file.

Better than just using a laptop screen, which is what I was going until we found that in a frac van they sent out to us. Plus we didn’t always get the same frac van, some crews had the two monitor set up, mine didn’t. I got used to it, so it didn’t really bother me. One monitor ended up being fine. Watch the job on one half, car shop on the other half.

I always love projects that involve using cutting-edge computer technology and expertise to log what we've been doing by hand for thousands of years. You need an intern or something! Unpaid, of course.

The last part is only true if you’ve got an OLED screen though. LCDs still need to power pixels to show black.

We had a ton of interns all summer, but a bunch had their last day this past Friday; including the one for my department.

Also, I tend to have a much higher attention to detail and pride in ensuring the utmost accuracy in my work than a lot of other people (particularly interns), and my boss, unfortunately, knows that. haha

They had this once upon a time, it was called Lotus 123. Unfortunately, everything has been white backgrounds for about 30 years. Thanks, Obama...er, Gates!

Welcome to my life, but make it 12 hours every 5 days because I hate myself.

I’m generally working in Excel every day, this file has just required more intense scrutiny and analysis than usual.
